A glamorous former St. George bank employee has asked for her trial to be shortened, as she continues to fight allegations she swindled hundreds of thousands of dollars from her customers. 

Sara Daizli is facing 118 charges after she allegedly used her role at the bank to transfer customers’ funds into fake accounts and to fake customers between February 2016 and December 2018.

Daizli allegedly used the funds to fund her lavish lifestyle, with her Instagram page flooded with photos of designer clothes, handbags, and private jet trips.

Wow. So that’s like the scariest thing that’s ever happened then. And so, like what? You know what? I think the Ukraine war has the potential to destabilize the world more than anything that’s happened in my lifetime, just because of the scale of the weapons systems and biological agents involved in the most corrupt country in the West, which is Ukraine, attacking Ukraine. I feel sorry for Ukraine, but what the hell?

The official DJI blog, “ViewPoints,” provided more color on the geofencing policy change, which will now allow drone operators to fly in previously restricted ‘No-Fly Zones’: 

With this update, DJI’s Fly and Pilot flight app operators will see prior DJI geofencing datasets replaced to display official Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) data. Areas previously defined as Restricted Zones (also known as No-Fly Zones) will be displayed as Enhanced Warning Zones, aligning with the FAA’s designated areas. In these zones, in-app alerts will notify operators flying near FAA designated controlled airspace, placing control back in the hands of the drone operators, in line with regulatory principles of the operator bearing final responsibility.

It is generally understood that one of Hegseth’s biggest challenges will be to unwind the most pernicious effects of the military-industrial complex, from cost overruns, to decades-long delays in weapons development, to reliance on in-theater contractor support, to mismatches between requirements and capabilities, to every other vice of the world of defense acquisition. Hegseth faces the Herculean task of cleaning out the Augean Stables at the Pentagon, but there is also a little-known and related cultural paradigm Hegseth must shatter if he is to succeed in this arena.

My service taught me an extremely important lesson. There is a cultural expectation in our modern military that if you make flag rank (i.e., a general or an admiral, depending on your service) you have hit the jackpot, and that pinning on those stars of flag rank automatically means you have joined the defense contractor “gravy train.” Upon your retirement from active duty, you will be entertaining dozens of lucrative offers from defense contractors, making you wealthy with limitless financial opportunities. I know this because I have had these conversations with those same friends, and there was even a time in my military career when I did not find that sentiment offensive because such enrichment was culturally considered normal, just, and fair. After all, you spent all those years sacrificing for your country, why shouldn’t you be able to cash in on your success?

President Joe Biden on Monday defended his foreign policy record amid two major foreign wars that broke out under his watch, declaring that his four years in office strengthened America’s position in a complex world, reinvigorated alliances and left adversaries like China and Russia weaker than they were.

“America is more capable, and I would argue better prepared than we’ve been in a long, long time,” Biden said. “While our competitors and adversaries are facing stiff headwinds, and we have the wind at our back.”

Biden declared that his foreign policy successes were “bipartisan” in nature and that a stronger America and more secure world benefit all Americans — an attempt, it seemed, to coax Trump and GOP leaders in Congress to build on his efforts, not reverse them.

“The United States should take full advantage of our diplomatic and geopolitical opportunities we’ve created: to keep bringing countries together, to deal with challenges posed by China, to make sure [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s war ends in a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and to capitalize on a new moment for a more stable, more integrated Middle East,” the president said.

The Justice Department reached an 11th-hour settlement with a Minnesota-based restaurant chain for a $95,000 civil penalty in addition to mandatory employment training after the company required “more documents than necessary” to verify workers’ permits.

According to the 7-page settlement, Brick & Bourbon, a restaurant group with three locations in Minnesota, will be required to post forms outlining employees’ rights in both English and Spanish and undergo additional reviews into employment practices.

 

“It is unlawful for employers to impose additional or unnecessary requirements on employees because of their citizenship status when checking their permission to work,” Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said in a press release Monday. “Discriminatory treatment during any step of the employment process harms workers who are lawfully participating in our economy and can deprive employers of their talents.”
